Roof Gardening with Waste Management Training Program

On 10th January 2025, A waste management training program was conducted at Anterdrishti Counseling Centre for rape survivors. As the environmental degradation is a growing global concern which needs to be addressed widely. Sustainable development is crucial for growth and human development. Therefore, the programme focused on training how to manage and utilize waste for sustainable living. Shesh Narayan Maharjan was the resource person of the event. He engaged with the residents of the centre and communicated to them the importance of sustainable practices like roof gardening and composting, The program actively addresses environmental challenges such as waste accumulation and degradation.

The primary objectives of the training program were to

* Educate residents about the benefits of roof gardening, including improved air quality, reduced urban heat island effect, and increased access to fresh produce.

* Provide participants with practical skills in setting up and maintaining roof gardens, tailored to the local climate and available resources.

* Train participants in effective waste management techniques.

* Promote environmental awareness and sustainable living practices and adopt eco-friendly living.

* Foster a sense of community ownership and participation in creating a clean and green environment.
