An orientation programme on sanitation and hygiene for orphan children was organised at Himali Bal Kalyan Samrakhan Munch. Sanitation and hygiene are fundamental pillars of public health, crucial for well-being, dignity, and overall socio-economic development. Sanitation and hygiene are essential components of public health that play a critical role in preventing disease and promoting well-being. Proper sanitation involves the safe disposal of human waste, access to clean toilets, and effective waste management, while hygiene focuses on practices like handwashing with soap, maintaining clean living environments, and personal cleanliness. To spread the awareness about the importance of proper sanitation and hygiene among children the orientation programme was organised. The objective of the orientation was to spread awareness about following:
* Open Defecation: The practice continues in many parts of the world, leading to the spread of disease and environmental contamination. * Lack of Infrastructure: Inadequate investment in sanitation infrastructure, including toilets, sewage systems, and treatment facilities, hinders progress. * Behavioral Practices: Poor hygiene practices, such as infrequent handwashing, contribute to the transmission of infections. * Climate Change: Extreme weather events, such as floods and droughts, can damage sanitation infrastructure and exacerbate water scarcity, further compromising hygiene. Ms Shila Sharma was the resource person who interacted with the children and made the orientation engaging through a power point presentation. Team IFF distributed books and snacks to the children.
