On 26th August 2025, Inclusive Futures Foundation in collaboration with the Advanced Centre for Women’s Studies, AMU organised a workshop on “Independence from Environmental Negligence” at Al Barkat College of Graduate Studies, Aligarh. The event focused on raising awareness about environmental responsibility and fostering a commitment to sustainable practices. The workshop included informative sessions, interactive group activities, and a collective environmental pledge ceremony. President of Inclusive Futures Foundation, Dr Juhi Gupta offered gratitude towards the Principal, administration, and teachers of Al Barkaat College of Graduate Studies for facilitating the workshop at their college. She also thanked Dr Kaleem Ahmad from the Department of Wildlife Sciences, AMU for delivering an enlightening lecture for the workshop. She said that greater awareness and collective actions are essential to overcoming environmental negligence and fostering a sustainable future. The highlights of the workshop are waste management and recycling, water conservation, energy efficiency, and the importance of green spaces.
A key component of the workshop was the inclusion of interactive group activities. Participants were divided into small teams to work on problem-solving exercises related to real-world environmental issues. The activities fostered a sense of community and collective responsibility, demonstrating that small, individual actions can lead to significant change. Dr Tauseef Fatima, Assistant Director of ACWS, presented a short introduction of the centre and explained how outreach is a part of the women’s studies curriculum. She narrated some inspiring stories of 2 women who made a difference in the environment around them with their small efforts.
The workshop concluded with a powerful environmental pledge ceremony. All participants, including students, faculty, and staff, collectively signed a pledge to commit to a more sustainable lifestyle. Dr Gupta invited everyone to become part of the Inclusive Futures Foundation (IFF) and contribute to meaningful initiatives for creating real opportunities for inclusion and positive change. The overwhelming attendance of more than 100 beneficiary and their enthusiastic participation indicated a strong desire within the college community to contribute to a greener, more sustainable future. Special thanks to our volunteers Mr. Aijaz Ahmed, Mr. Qayyom Ali, Ms Sana, Ms. Shiza, Ms. Falak, Mr. Umar, Mr. Shazil, Ms. Rida Warsi, Ms. Bushra, Ms Adeeba, Ms. Munazzah, and Dr. Sarah Kidwai. Refreshments were also distributed to the participants.
