The Advanced Centre for Women’s Studies organised a one-day workshop titled “Girls Grow Safe: Gender Sensitisation for Inclusive Future” at Blackdale Public School, Aligarh, on 18th October 2025. The event aimed to promote awareness about gender sensitivity, equality, and safety among young students, equipping them with the understanding necessary to foster an inclusive and respectful environment.
The workshop was conducted in collaboration with the NGO Inclusive Futures Foundation (IFF). It witnessed an enthusiastic participation of over 150 beneficiaries, including students, teachers, and staff members.The session was graced by eminent resource persons Dr. Juhi Gupta, President, Inclusive Futures Foundation (IFF), Dr. Tauseef Fatima, Assistant Director, Advanced Centre for Women’s Studies, AMU and Dr. Quratul ain Ali, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work, AMU.
The resource persons delivered insightful talks on gender equality, empowerment, and the importance of safe spaces for girls in educational institutions. Dr. Juhi Gupta highlighted the role of collective responsibility in ensuring gender sensitivity in schools. Dr. Tauseef Fatima discussed the social and psychological aspects of gender awareness and inclusivity, while Dr. Quratul ain Ali emphasised the need for education as a tool to challenge stereotypes and promote mutual respect.
Interactive activities and discussions were also held to engage participants and help them reflect on their perceptions and experiences related to gender. The session successfully fostered an atmosphere of openness and understanding, encouraging young minds to contribute to building a more equitable future.
The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks by the Principal, Blackdell school, expressing gratitude to the organisers, speakers, and participants for their active involvement. Overall, the event proved to be an enlightening and empowering experience, reinforcing the importance of gender sensitisation for an inclusive and progressive society.
