19th May, 2025 A dental camp was organized at Ayesha Tarin Modern Public School, Aligarh by Inclusive Futures (IFF) India and Department of Periodontics and Community Dentistry, AMU to promote oral health awareness and provide basic dental check-ups for students. Dr. Juhi Gupta President IFF, inaugurated the camp. Dr. Gupta said that this programme is important as around 70% of children face tooth decay till they turn 15 years of age as per the Indian Dental Association, while Ms. Sangeeta Agrawal Principal Ayesha Tarin Modern Public School said such dental checkups helps children to establish a strong foundation for lifelong oral health.
The camp was conducted under the guidance of Prof. Neha Agarwal, Chairperson, D/o Periodontics and Community Dentistry, AMU, she emphasised the importance of oral hygiene in her address. Dr. Avinash Tripathi, Dr Hridya. J, and Dr. Mainsi Varshney explained through presentation about oral health.
The camp aimed to educate children about the importance of oral hygiene, identify common dental problems, and encourage regular dental care.
* To conduct dental screenings for students.
* To educate students on proper tooth brushing techniques.
* To raise awareness about the importance of a balanced diet for dental health. Age-appropriate presentations were given on the importance of a balanced diet, limiting sugary snacks and drinks, and the benefits of regular dental visits.
Visual aids, such as charts, models, and videos, were used to enhance understanding. Interactive sessions were conducted to teach students the correct tooth brushing and flossing techniques. The team of dentists also conducted thorough oral examinations of the students. The dental camp was successful in providing dental check-ups and promoting oral health awareness among the students. The camp helped identify common dental problems and educate students on the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene practices. It is recommended that such camps be conducted regularly to ensure the long-term oral health of the students.
