Cycle Wise: Menstrual Health and Hygiene Programme 14th May 2025, Inclusive Futures Foundation in collaboration with Department of Community Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University organised a programme on menstrual health and hygiene at M. Tech Inter College, Aligarh. Menstrual health and hygiene are critical aspects of women’s health and welfare. They encompass not only the absence of menstruation-related disorders but also the ability to manage menstruation with dignity, safety, and comfort.
Therefore, the programme was organised to address the problems, myths, and taboos associated with menstruation among adolescent girls. The major components of the event were Awareness and Education Access to menstrual products Proper wash techniques Proper Diet Creating a supportive environment Dr. Juhi Gupta, Founder President IFF showed concern on the fact that only 36% of women in India has access to hygienic sanitary napkins while Prof. Uzma Eram, Chairperson D/o Community Medicine, AMU said this is the high time to spread awareness about the taboos associated with menstruation.
The team of doctors Dr. Karthika P, Dr. Sameena Ahmad, Dr. Anchal Negi, and Dr. Chandramouli Mitra from the Department of Community Medicine, AMU, explained through a presentation. The team also interacted with the girls and addressed their queries. The program aimed to address challenges and barriers regarding menstruation and how to manage menstruation with safety and dignity, which can have significant positive impacts on individuals, communities, and societies. Around 100 students attended the programme. At the end of the program the team of IFF volunteers Dr. Sarah Kidwai, Ms Ishrat Batool, Ms Sana, Mr Aijaz Ahmed and Mr Qyyum distributed snacks and sanitary napkins to girls.
